Built because I couldn't understand my own analytics.

I'm Surya, a frontend developer based in Hyderabad, India. For the last 2+ years, I've been working at a startup (10 AM–10 PM shifts). But I've been building products on the side.

The Real Story

I built Easy Teleprompter, a free browser teleprompter. It's live. It has real users.

I shared it on Reddit. People actually came to the site. It worked.

But then I faced a problem: I had no idea how many active users were actually using it.

I opened Google Analytics.

The UI was overwhelming. The metrics made no sense. Active Users? Sessions? Pageviews? I couldn't figure out what I was actually looking at. It felt like it was built for marketing teams with PhDs, not for someone like me, a developer who just wants to know: How many people are using my product?

So I gave up trying to understand it.

That's when I realized: If I can't figure out my own analytics, how are other indie developers supposed to?
